Melvin Riley
Melvin Riley is a founder and technology governance practitioner working across AI governance, technology policy and sustainable technology development. As founder of FORA, he is building an AI-powered downstream technology governance platform that turns fragmented evidence about the impacts of digital and AI systems into real-time and actionable governance intelligence, tools and shared technical infrastructure. FORA enables people, institutions and developers to understand risks, coordinate responses and improve governance. A multi-award-winning founder, campaigner, internationally recognised leader and keynote speaker, Melvin brings more than a decade of experience across leadership, technology, civic participation, social impact, public policy and entrepreneurship. He has worked nationally and internationally with organisations including the UK Government, IMF, ITU, UNRISD, UK Youth, The Diana Award and the Commonwealth Games. He previously founded the National Youth Technology Council, a youth-led technology governance organisation. As a Churchill Fellow, he has conducted research across Kenya, South Africa and the United States on technology governance mechanisms and infrastructure. He is currently pursuing a Master’s in Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Development at University College London, developing expertise in AI, machine learning and data science. Through this work, Melvin is helping build a future where technology is more accountable, equitable and accessible.
