Danny Donnelly

Danny Donnelly is a health inequalities advocate, researcher and final-year Adult Nursing student at the University of Nottingham. His mission is to reduce health inequalities for young carers and their families, recognising education and social inclusion as essential foundations for lifelong wellbeing. A disabled and neurodivergent young man with 17 years’ experience as an unpaid carer, Danny brings lived and professional insight into how caring responsibilities, disability and socioeconomic circumstances shape boys’ education, wellbeing and future opportunities. His work spans research, policy and practical projects across universities, local authorities, community organisations and frontline services. Danny advocates for carers locally, nationally and internationally. He has led initiatives supporting student and young adult carers, influenced universities and national organisations, engaged with parliamentarians, and created opportunities for young people to shape the policies and services affecting their lives. Danny is building a clinical-academic career focused on translating lived experience and research into lasting national and international change in policy and practice.
